MikeParticipantI would like to just get some general feedback about the following poem I wrote entitled, ‘Alone’ Since birth, I’ve been raised with you bizarre notions and impossible aspirations. You told me to be strong, bold and courageous. You told me to be sensitive and loving. You told me to fight like hell to be better than the rest and get a bigger slice of the pie. You told me to selfless and give it all away freely. You told me to be a man and to desire women. You told me to deny lust and to respect women. You told me that these are the things that a man should be. These are the things that I should be. You never thought I’d do it. But I did. And now you stand there staring, eyes wide, jaw slacked, “We never thought you’d actually do it. We never thought you actually could do it.” But I did it. I’m everything you told me to be. So what the hell am I supposed to do now? Am I supposed to unmake what you’ve made me? I stand tall, warm gentle embrace in my left hand. I stand tall, fierce sword tightly clenched in my right. I stand alone, no one to embrace. I stand alone, no one to defend. F— you Hans Christian Anderson. F— you Walt Disney. F— you Mother Goose. I’m lonely. And it’s all your fault. **Note to Y’s staff** I know that the 3 line stanza about walt and mother goose is a bit racy. I took the liberty of censoring myself somewhat. However, I would really like to get this posted and get some responses to this, so if that censorship is not enough, I would like to ask that you consider these other alternatives. They’re listed in the order of my preference, from most desirable to least desirable: 1-To Hell with you… 2-Screw you… 3-Forget you… Thanks
