Ever since I moved to South Carolina, I have noticed people, otherwise healthy, who all of a sudden come down with what they call ‘strep throat.’ They take off work for a day, go to the doctor, then usually come back to work the next day. I am not suggesting they are malingering, but I happen to know that ‘strep throat’ is a distinct illness, and I never heard of it being so prevalent until I moved here. Or is this synonymous with having a sore throat, whether it is actually strep or not?
