MaggieParticipantMy boyfriend has white spots all over his penis which are not contagious but are unattractive. I feel uncomfortable giving him oral sex. Has anyone had a similar experience? What are your thoughts about this?

MikeParticipantI wouldn’t worry about it. It’s most likely a simple lack of skin pigmentation. My father had prostate cancer and thus was subject to radiation treatment. The radiation burns caused white spots to appear on his penis. I’ve noticed it on other men in the locker room of the fitness center I belong to. Why don’t you ask him about the spots? Maybe he’s seen a doctor about them already!

ERIK25243ParticipantTHEY ARE PROBABLY GENITAL WARTS WHICH IS CONTAGIOUS. MAKE SURE HE GOES TO A DOCTOR WITH YOU TO GET CHECKED. DONT LET HIM FOOL YOU. THEY ARE TREATABLE BUT NOT CURIBLE.

Bill JohnstonMemberSounds like your boyfriend has what Michael Jackson has, vitalgo, or simple loss of pigment. As a gay man I have run across several oddly colored penises. My suggestion is to just go down on him, you can’t see it when it’s in your mouth!

kathy26691Participanti havent had a similar experience, but if i did i wouldnt worry. its most likely ‘pearly penile papules’. if not ppp it could still be an std, if they look like warts. i would check with a doctor. if it is ppp, then its harmless. i personally understand not wanting to give him oral sex, so seeing a doctor to calm your nerves is probably healthy for him and for your sex life. talk to him about it, then talk to your doctor.

AceyManParticipantIt sounds like your BF has PPP – pearly penile papules. This is a benign condition that manifests as smally shiny bumps around the head of the penis, particulary the corona (the edge of the glans). Search the internet for PPP and/or pearly penile papules for more information. They are harmless and are not an indicator of any health issues, sexual or otherwise. (Not a doctor — I just happen to have learned about these recently.)

Kat T.MemberAre the spots a change in skin pigmentation? or are they raised? Pigmentation shouldn’t be too big of a thing – just think of them as reverse freckles! Better yet (safer still) get colored condoms (they come in many flavors too)- no pun intended. You said that they weren’t contagious – who says? His doctor to YOU? or that’s what he’s telling you. If the spots are raised or warty appearing – you should be very concerned about condyloma or venereal warts – which are VERY contagious.

Laura G.MemberHow do you know they’re not contagious? Has he explained to you what they are? Do you trust his explanation? If you haven’t already talked to him about this then start talking – you don’t want to be rude or offensive of course, but don’t be shy about it. Ask him what, why, how, when. You may feel embarrassed now, but you’ll be sorry later if it ends up being an STD (that even he may not be aware of). Maybe, if you haven’t already done this, you should start by both getting tested and sharing the results with each other. On a less scary note, many men have discolorations on their penises due to circumcision, but usually that leaves a discolored ring, not spots. Does he have similar discoloration anywhere else on his body? white spots on the body could be an indication of a skin disease – I forget the name but it’s not fatal. Although, unless his penis has been exposed to sun much I’m not sure that would show up there. Anyway, I’m not a doctor but a girl I knew has that skin condition.

skinnydippParticipanta certain type of ‘white spot’ is normal, but without more information and clarification that’s all I can say. Ask your doctor this question

SunshineParticipantSo, it really depends how they are shaped and what they look like. If it looks like cauliflower and may spread then it is genital warts. Could it be an infected hair? I would consult your own gynecologist or family doctor and see if they may know. They have seen and heard a lot worse than this so don’t be embarrassed. It is what they do… Good luck

Sydney SteinParticipantI had the same feelings when I was dating your boyfried!! JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!! Okay, it really SHOULDN’T make a difference if you really care for him. It shouldn’t but it obviously does. Two possibilities: try to think of him as your sexy spotted tiger, or just remember that eyes can be open or closed, and lights have an ‘On’ and ‘Off’ switch.

Georgia21673ParticipantAnd provided you proof? If you are at all uncomfortable you should either not do or if you feel he is correct that it is nothing there are flavored condoms that can be used for oral sex. I would strongly advise against unprotected sex at this time oral or otherwise. Other than that enjoy

MichelleParticipantWell, let me just say, from my abundant sexual experiences, that is just horrifying! How can you have oral sex sucking that mother-of-a-leopard tool? I’m amazed.
