Do female swimmers have small breasts because they swim, or do they swim because they have small breasts?

All female athletes have, or appear to have, smaller breasts. This is either because they have very low body fat, and consequently tend not to undergo normal puberty until they become less active a little later in life; or because their breasts are in fact of normal size for their frames, but they are so muscular it makes their breasts look smaller by comparison. Female body builders – even the ones who DON’T illegally dose on HGH and male hormones and lie about it – especially tend to have very small breasts, because the surrounding musculature is so large. A lot of them get implants for that very reason, because the judges at female body-building contests want to see boobs on the women, even if it’s physiologically impossible, and contestants are dinged for not having a rack, even if the judges and promoters lie about not doing this.

If you’re talking about top-level female swimmers, they swim because they have small breasts. It’s just like how the best gymnasts aren’t six feet tall: certain sports are conducive to different body shapes. Also, if some male swimmers go so far as to shave their heads to better their times by fractions of a second, then double-D breasts would definitely slow someone down.

Gosh, there are so many answers. Spandex, long known for its low resistance to water friction, is worn very tight for maximum speed, thus smushing the breasts closer to the bod, thereby making them appear smaller and spread out. And breasts are largely made up of fat, anyway, and successful swimmers are lean, so it’s both. Then there is the boring answer of the lesser resistance through the water with small breasts -unlike the spoiler on a ’68 ‘Cuda.

A young woman once told me her breasts were the first place she lost weight upon embarking on a physical fitness program. She saw it as cruel injustice since that part of her body was the one area she was satisfied with. This suggests that an avid swimmer might indeed loose fatty but fabulous breast tissue over the course of many laps. But wait! I heard from an equally unverifiable source that because water keeps a swimmer’s body cool, it is an exercise unsuited for weight loss. And on that note, I am reminded of a junior high classmate and swim team member who did not lack in the area of mamular might. So I think that, perhaps, small-breasted women may be drawn to a sport that demands a sleek figure, powerful shoulders and legs. The additional drag presented by a 38-D is more than even the strongest scissor kick can overcome.
