Though out human history every race, religion and ethnicity has been subjected to persecution; slavery, genocide, disenfranchisement – the types are too numerous to list here. Why should the black experience be treated so differently in our society? It is very recent – but many other atrocities have been committed by the human race since – whether the slaughter of the Chinese by the Japanese during WWII, the Armenian genocide by the Turkish, or the Holocaust which attacked the Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals. Yet, it seems that much more attention in America is given to the African-American experience. I am curious as to why this is.
