Within “shaving,” however, in my experience, there are two different types: Totally bare, and “trimmed,” i.e. very short. Having already stated the benefits of totally bare, my favorite is the “trimmed” look, both for the feel and appearance. I think the best answer would be that it is a matter of personal taste.

So, my advice to you would be to just start out by doing a little trimming and see what he says about that before going and shaving the whole thing.
