Why do so many Christians (including some in public office) use the bible to justify excluding others or denying them rights and respect (gays, Catholics, Jews)? Why do these bible thumpers choose to forget Jesus’s example of love and tolerance? Just Curious

Jesus is not an innfallable man. The fact that his curennt followers are not kind is a unfortunate fact. But think of it this way: did Jesus himself write the bible? No! His followers did, and therefore the bible is not the work of god, but the opinions of men from the te of Rome. In a sense, true Christianity died with Jesus on the cross.
