Hello. My name is Elizabeth Gittsovich. I am writing a paper on refugees and asylum. I was wondering if you would give me your opinion on several questions about these topics. These are the various questions that I’m researching… What does you think of the current treatment of refugees and asylum seekers around the world? Who do you believe should be responsible for the protection and/or assistance of refugees? Is it the responsibility of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, of the asylum country, or of various non-governmental organizations, such as the Human Rights Watch? Or is it simply an international responsibility, with every able nation as well as NGOs working together to assist the refugees and countries providing asylum for them? How would you determine who fits under ‘refugee’ status and who countries should be willing to provide asylum for? Thank you very much for your time.
