Why do most Caucasians accept and respect me as a woman, but a higher number of African Americans seem to question my gender or allege that I’m a man?

It seems that there is a slightly higher level of homophobia in the African-American community. African-Americans, tend to vote democratically, yet can also be quite socially conservative.Of course there are exceptions. I am going to go out on a limb and assume that you are physically, a sexually-ambiguous woman? I am not equating that with being homosexual. But others might.

Historically, Black men have had a harder time maintaining their masculinity in racist situations than White men, so if your appearance or demeanor is in any way masculine–I assume that’s at least one of the reasons why you describe yourself as ‘asexual’–Black men may percieve you as a threat, or an affront to their physical manhood. White men may be indifferent towards you enough that you think they ‘accept’ you. What is your definition of being ‘accept[ed]and respect[ed]…as a woman’? Not having the White guy in the check-out line say, ‘Excuse me, sir’? as opposed to the Black saying, ‘Get out my way, punk’?

well… how bad do you look because if you are a man-ish looking female, then people are bound to think that you are one.
