CAPTAIN CHARLIEParticipantThis question isn’t because I don’t like RAP, because I don’t like Acid Rock, and several other formats. My question is, how can balck people, not be outraged by the in your face lyrics, the ultra sexual suggestivness, and pro violence, (let’s kill a cop tonight) in RAP? I can understand the artists doing it(because they make big bucks), and the impressionable kids buying it.. But most average black people go along with it just because it’s a black thing. I have found very few blacks who agree with me that RAP is culturally degrading to African Americans. Do they do this simply to go with the flow and not want to look like an UNCLE TOM? And, what’s with the clothes, baggy pants, showing their but, and jewelry that looks like Mr. T training kits. So are there any black people who feel as I do about RAP? It is not flattering to black people.
