AshleyParticipantBesides skin color and skull shape, are there physiological differences between blacks and whites?

Jack19632ParticipantThere exist very few differences between races. Black people are more closely related to white people than most of us know or admit. During slavery it was common practice for slave masters to rape their slaves female and male. The result is the range of skin tone of black folk we range from dark as night to damn near white. In addition to that many Latino or South Americans who appear to be white are a mixture of many things and African slave is a part of that mixture. So the differences of physical appearance ends at skin tone and hair texture and some argue some muscular differences.

Ann L. LowensteinParticipantAbsolutely. Evolution has a funny way of fitting creatures to their environment, so a human whose ancestors were nomads in a tropical rain forest is going to have some physiological differences from a human whose ancestors were subsistence farmers in a cool, mountainous forest. One good example is adult lactose intolerance. People whose ancestors hailed from parts of the world where milk and milk products have not traditionally been part of the adult diet (Asia and much of South America and Africa, for instance) tend to have a much higher rate of adult lactose intolerance, because their systems didn’t evolve to accomodate continued consumption of milk after weaning, and their bodies stop producing the lactase enzyme which breaks down milk protein.

Diane TabbottParticipantAshley, if you read the Jacksonville Times-Union regularly, you may have seen in November 2004 a news article about a Caucasian who donated a kidney to a black. Part of her motivation was to put an end to questions such as yours…and I know because I was that donor. It’s also why, when a form asks for my race, I enter ‘human’. Probably some blood and tissue types occur more often in some ethnic groups than others, but here’s the bottom line: HUMAN is HUMAN.

RomanParticipantYes. Actually black people’s blood is originally green and has only recently acquired the red tint from years of kool-aid drinking and evolution. Furthermore they have thick lips because these were originally meant to serve the purpose that the anus does. But through self control and a desire to appear white and uppity, they will use the other end just like the rest of us. Also you may not know this though you’re caucasian , but European white people actually have tails and horns. They’ve just managed by science and technology and a desire to maintain the respect of other races to keep this fact hidden for a longtime now. Just ask your mother the ‘real’ reason why europeans hate jews (hint: because they know the real truth) 😉

TL28913ParticipantThe Nazi did the same with Jews. Seeing that you yourself are Jewish, why would even ask this? I just find this an odd question from a 17 year old, Jewish, upper middle class female…….

Miss-SParticipantDifferent populations of people, meaning any group that shares heritage (i.e. people of African descent, people of Jewish background, etc.) usually share some common genetic makeup. This usually has to do with susceptibility to certain diseases or conditions.

Daryl28757ParticipantYes – ‘White men can’t jump’ – Sorry – just had to say that. I have read articles where black men have a higher risk associated with certain pharmacutical drugs due to a slightly different blood composition or reaction to certain chemical. Its not only between white and blacks but there are a multitude of physiological differences between other peoples of the world just because they are more suited to what their natural enviornment has to offer them or not.

Ben28651ParticipantWhile I don’t think there are differences by nature, I think the experience of being part of a minority has an effect on a person’s psychological development. The variables are too great from person to person and location to location to come up with anything more specific than that.

AmyMParticipantGenerally speaking, there are enough differences that they need to be taken into consideration when prescribing medication or choosing treatment plans. *But* there are no absolute differences: not even skin color or skull shape. In a true biological sense there is no such thing as race. Be Kind, for everyone is fighting a great battle." -Plato
