I work at a coffee shop and I’ve noticed that Indian customers almost always order mochas, almost never any other style of coffee drink. Mochas are a popular drink, but I haven’t noticed any other ethnicity that orders mochas almost exclusively. Is there a reason for this?

Mocha probably tastes the most like the coffee they’re used to. In the Near and Far East, coffee is served very strong and heavily spiced. To them, regular ‘American’ coffee probably tastes a lot like water.

I’m Indian and I always get mochas! For me, it’s because I only started drinking coffee recently (from tea) and I really like chocolate. It’s amazing you noticed a trend there.

I’m not Indian, but I grew up in a country with a large Indian population and I find that mochas taste a lot like the strong milk coffee I find at Indian food stalls and restaurants both at home and here in the states.
