How do ‘white ethnics’ react to members of their own groups who deny or try to hide their background? For example, I know of a family from the Ukraine who now pass themselves off as Anglo-Canadian. What do Jews think of other Jews who deny or hide being Jewish, Italians of Italians who change their last name and refuse to teach Italian to their kids, etc? Is it the same mix of anger, sadness, and being sickened that nonwhites have when we see someone in denial or betraying us? If not, why not?
