Lucy HParticipantI am very concerned about the number of shootings that have occured recently all over the country, and would like to know what other people’s thoughts are regarding these shootings. What are the causes, and does anybody have any ideas for solutions? It seems as though the lawmakers would like to pass more gun laws. This would make them look good because they appear to be doing something about the problem, but I don’t think more laws will solve anything. I am also distressed by the media and politicians’ reactions to these shootings. I grew up in a neighborhood where shootings were not that uncommon, and innocent children would sometimes get caught in the cross-fire. This would rarely get any attention from the media or politicians. Are some lives more important than others? These recent shootings have gotten so much attention, are other people who are on the verge of insanity being encouraged by all of the attention? Please let me know what you thing about all of this, I am very interested to know other people’s opinions.
