I have been blessed enough to live in what some would call a ‘nuclear family’ (mom, dad, two children, dog and white picket fence, etc.). I’ve had friends and boyfriends who come from families with many divorces, step-parents, step-siblings or half-siblings and such, and I admit that I’ve been quite confused! I want to enjoy and appreciate all family members, but I want to know the family structure too. How can I ask about who married whom or which brother lives where without being anal or disrespectful? Would it be offensive to ask too many questions?
