I understand the desire to celebrate and observe the life of Martin Luther King, but if it’s going to be a legal holiday, why ‘Martin Luther King Day’ and not ‘Civil Rights Day’ or something that includes appreciation for the efforts of ALL those who participated in and lost their lives in the fight for civil rights? Blacks were not the only ones involved, and certainly King wasn’t even the only black whose work brought about significant change. I don’t wish to take anything away from his legacy, but I think there are a lot of others who are being left out.
