I’m a black woman, and I have always wondered: Why is it that every time a black person walks by a person of a different race who is inside a car, the person quickly locks the doors? Is it that they think we are going to rob them or do some type of harm to them?

I would believe it is because of the big difference in the high percentage of blacks that commit violent crime. When you have 33% of the black male population either in jail, or have been in the criminal court system for some crime or the other, one tends to look at the averages. I know that more whites commit crime, but its in the laws of averages that 1/3 of the time you come across a black man he is, or was a criminal. Just for the sake of arguement, I’ve seen a very large, tough looking, black man lock his doors when approached by a black at an intersection. Do you suppose he was a racist? No, he was just being honest.
