BethMemberIt seems that the story ‘Little Black Sambo’ has become non-PC. Why? Sambo is trusted by his mother (or grandmother, depending on the version) – she sends him on his own to do an error. He is brave – he faces the tigers. He is resourceful – he tricks the tigers into running around and around the tree until they turn into butter. He is responsible – he completes his errand and goes home. I think a better response to the story would be to take pride in the child’s good qualities. (If you are still offended by the title, don’t forget that it can’t really be about an African Black child, since there are tigers in the story and there are no tigers in Africa.) I really hope someone will answer this since I have wondered about it for a long time.
