JenParticipantFrom what I understand, homosexuality is not looked highly upon by the various cultures in India and is pretty much a punishable ‘sin.’ There’s an interesting movie that was released in 1996 called ‘Fire’ by Indian director Deepa Mehta. If you are able to get your hands on a DVD version, there is a fascinating documentary accompanying the film that can better answer your question.

AVi23428Participanther life is going to become a living hell in most of the cases. It is something which is not acceptable in the least here.Chances are her parents are going to search for a groom (in most cases any guy) and get her married. If they find a guy that is !

DotParticipantThe response would likely be tempered by class and geography. Educated urban parents would probably be more accepting than rurals with little schooling. This is certainly true in the U.S. and one would assume Australia as well.
