ShifityParticipantI noticed this Halloween that there were a lot of people dressed as Klan members. Why would someone think this was an acceptable costume? I also saw a group of white kids dressed as ‘gangstas,’ and they had their faces painted brown, as if they were African American. What gives? What kind of parents would let their child be a Klansman or ‘gangsta’?

ACC25043ParticipantI agree with you: it shows a real lack of parenting, that they think it’s OK to dress their kids up in a way that promotes racism. I feel the same way every time I see a kid dressed as an ‘Indian.’ Would they also think it was OK for their kids to dress up as Aunt Jemima (which I did see as a kid)? Probably these same people also like to collect lawn jockeys and tell n****r jokes. I’d keep any kids of my own far away from them and explain to my kids why this was so very wrong.

AMCParticipantSounds like a parent that is begging for their child to become the target of their own racism…
