BL23447ParticipantVermont passed a bill recently that allows gays and lesbians to form a legal civil union paralleling marriage. It will be recognized at the State level (only Vermont) but not recognized at the Federal level. On a recent Larry King Live show, Governor Howard Dean spoke briefly about the law to Larry, Jerry, and a panel consisting of (if I recall correctly) two gay ministers and/or former priests among others. Many Vermonters applaud Dean, myself included, but many vilify him Jerry had a sheet of paper that he said were references in the Bible that denounced homo-sexuality. It is my understanding that the Bible has many other references to things that can be considered ‘off the wall’. Why is it religious leaders, or people perceived to be religous leaders, pick and choose from the Bible what they want you and I to believe? Raised a Catholic, I was taught God created everything and was in everyone. Does this mean God erred in making homosexuals? Is ‘man’ correct to go against God’s will (if it is assumed God does not err) by preaching against His creating homo-sexuals? Can one say that the Bible was written, in part, by a group of men who were homophobic?
