In spite of a half-dozen visits from Jehovah’s Witnesses, all of which immediately became embroiled in discussions about evolution, I still don’t know what you guys believe. I’m aware there is a whopping amount of misinformation out there, but is there a practicing (not former) Jehovah’s Witness who can list off in maybe a dozen sentences just what you believe?

We’re a Christian religion that believes in one almighty God – his name being Jehovah. Jesus was his son who was given as a ransom for humans so that they might live forever if faithful. We don’t teach the Trinity doctrine. Nor do we participate in holidays that have become a part of religious traditions because of their pagan roots. Our preaching work is what sets us apart. We do this in order to teach others God’s purpose and will for us, and because this was Jesus’ commission to us. Basically, all our teachings are based on the scriptures, and worldly traditions are not followed. Jehovah’s Witnesses have an official website, http://www.watchtower.org, if you want more information.

It’s nice to see that you’re taking the time to at least find out what we believe. Yes, there is quite a bit of misinformation out there. The main thing to know is that all of our beliefs are based on the Bible, not the traditions of man. I’ll try to be brief. We believe:

*In God and that He created all things and that the Bible is God’s Word and is inspired by God. Psalm 104:24, 2 Timothy 3:16,17

*God is the only true God, and we strive to speak about him and his loving provisions to others. John 17:3 (When we visit you, we feel we are carrying out what God requires of us as stated in Matthew 24:14)

*In Jesus (some people think we don’t), but that he is God’s son and not part of a Trinity (John 17:3); we also believe it is because of his sacrifice that obedient humans have a hope for everlasting life (Matthew 20:28)

    * Mankind needed Jesus’ sacrifice as a ransom for the sinful nature we inherited from Adam and Eve (Hebrews 9:25-28, Romans 5:12)

    * The only hope for mankind and our problems is God’s Kingdom; in the future, this Kingdom will rid the world of imperfect human governments and bring about a righteous world (Daniel 2:44). This belief is commonly recited when people say the Our Father prayer as read at Matthew 6:9-15: Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven… That prayer indicates God’s kingdom will come to earth, just as it is in heaven.

*Jesus will rule this kingdom in conjunction with a number of spirit-anointed Christians. Daniel 7:13,14; 1 Cor. 15:40-53(We do not believe in good people going to heaven and bad going to hell.)

*God’s original purpose for mankind was to live in perfect conditions and to be populate the earth, and this purpose will be fulfilled. Genesis 1:28, Isaiah 55:11

*That we are currently living in the last days of this system of things and we will soon seen the destruction of the present world; those who survive this destruction will live in a cleansed earth. 2 Tim 3:1-5, Revelation 21:3,4

I hope this gives you enough information. We do have other beliefs, but this list is the main information. I know there are misconceptions about Jehovah’s Witnesses, and if there is anything specific you’d like to know, please email me.

Jehovah witnesses have also falsely predicted the end of this system of things on several occasions. Thats why they have a bad rap with everyone. Its states right in the very bible they use that a those who falsly prophecise are false prophets and not to be listened to, so I dont. My parents are Jehovah witnesses and they themselves know how many times their own religion has falsly predicted the ending of times and still refuse to admit it.

Its refreshing to hear that someone is interested in what the Bible has to say,A wager in Germany in the 1930s’that if the churches could prove their doctrines were in the Bible, they could claim the prise of $10,000 US dollars.(a lot of money for that time) There were no takers! Trinity, literal Hell, soul goes of to heaven when you die, all go to Heaven, children go to heaven.are all false doctrines. The Bible Answers these puzeling questions. (only pagans had triunes of gods, the Bible clearly identifies that there is only one God and he has a personal name that sets him apart from everyone else. The major religions have tried to erase the name from their translations, and confine it to the preface pages of their bibles where they have to admit that it is in the original texts from which they obtain their translations. Exodus 6:3 Psalm 83:18. everyone and everything has a name, we name our cats, dogs, ships, aeroplanes, houses, streets, cities, countries, football teams, we ourselves have our personal name. Yet the churches teach god has no personal name!! There is only one God, and he created a son called Jesus Christ. The holy Spirit is not a person but the power of God which he uses to accomplish his purpose. If there was a trinity of gods and all are equal as the churches teach, then why did’nt God use a family term we are familure with to describe it, like the 3 brothers!(all equal) No he used a family term to explain exactely what the situation is and that is why he is the single only true God, and he created a son Jesus christ. So we clearly understand that the Father is greater than a son, they are not the same person, the father produces the son so the son is lower than a father, we understand this in our own family arrangement as humans. Thats what the Bible says and thats what we believe, regards Andy
