I am from the UK. I have been travelling around the southern United states and feel that racism is still alive and well in these parts. Back in London I used to date a black woman and did not notice any adverse reaction other than curiosity that we were an interracial couple. However, she told me that she frequently received adverse street comments from other black girls on the fact that she was dating a white guy. What are the pitfalls and solutions regarding cross ethnic dating in the south? Being entirely nieve to the concept of racism, I look to content of my partner’s soul and intellect rather than their ethnic disposition.
