Why are inner-city residents charged more for home owners and/or car insurance, as opposed to suburban and rural area residents?

There’s the answer you want to hear, and then there’s the real answer. The real answer is because statistically-speaking, the inner city has a higher crime rate, so insurers are much likelier to have to pay a claim for damaged or stolen property, so they charge more for insurance. The answer you WANT to hear is “racism”. Sorry, sweetie-pie, they charge whites and Asians living in inner-city areas just as much as they charge blacks. BadKarma!
