I live in an apartment complex in the second floor unit. Below is an Indian family. They have one small child and they are so loud. I understand young children can be loud at times but this wasn’t about the child, it’s the parents who were so loud and stomped their feet whenever they walked. They would invite their friends over and let their friends’ kids be loud and my whole apartment upstairs would completely vibrate to the point pictures would come off the wall. When I confronted them they seemed not to care and continued to be loud. Why are they so loud and why don’t they take into consideration that there are 12 other units in the place they are living?

In my experience, this kind of utter indifference to basic courtesy is more class-related than race-related. There’s a good chance your downstairs neighbors are the Indian equivalent of trailer garbage. I’ve had rude, noisy, loud, inconsiderate, neighbors who were American, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Russian, Hmong, white, black, and/or brown. The only common denominator among them was socio-economic class. Trailer garbage, wherever they may originally hail from, don’t care about much beyond their own immediate gratification, and don’t care in the slightest about basic neighborly behavior or common courtesy/decency, unless it is they themselves who are being affected by the lack of it, in which case they raise hell.
