I’ve always wondered why in the obituaries of African Americans there are seldom requests for memorials or donations to charitable causes such as the United Negro Fund, Howard University, social service agencies, churches and the treatment of diseases or illness that most affect blacks. While flowers are nice – and there should be some – memorials live on to benefit others.
