I (white) was at work when a new employee (black) asked me to physically describe our supervisor to him as he hadn’t met him yet. Our supervisor was black and I wasn’t certain if I could say that to the new employee. I felt uncomfortable because I felt stating it would give one message, whereas not stating it could give another. What would you have done? I couldn’t introduce the two, as the supervisor would not be in for a couple days.
