ShirleyAveryParticipantI’m white, but have lived in a racially diverse community for the last 25 years. From what I’ve heard and observed, there seems to be a hierarchy within the black community based on how dark your skin is. Often, the first thing I hear mentioned as a descriptor of another Black person is the lightness or darkness of their skin. Is this considered a form of discrimination to some African Americans? Just Curious

RhondaOutlawMemberRemember India? India still has a caste system, and a “color” system whereby the lighter and “less Indian looking” you are, the more beautiful and desired you are considered. This also occurs in the Middle East, in Asian countries, it isn’t exclusive to African Americans.
