Why do many fair-skinned people consider getting a tan beautiful or important, and even sit in the hot sunlight to get it?

people always desire something they don’t have. dark people desire fair complexion, fair people want dark tan. Too, a tan portrays, outdoor exposure, sports health, youth etc, that is good life, and vitality. whereas, amongst dark skin people of mostly tropiocal, poorer countries, fair skin denotes absence of sun exposure, ie.ability to stay indoor and afford servants to do the outdoor menial works. I am definitely generalizing, but that is probably how it all originated.
