Is there a linguistic equivalent or cultural imperative in Chinese that requires that a response to a posed question begin with the phrase ‘I think…’? If an English-speaking person were translating his or her response into Chinese, what phrase would be needed so as to be ‘culturally’ and ‘linguistically’ correct?
