It is my understanding that the majority of Christians consider God to be male, but so far no Christian has been able to adequately explain why this is so. What would be the point of God’s being male unless he had a female counterpart with whom he could mate? An omnipotent being would be capable of performing acts attributed to one gender or the other (such as impregnating a virgin) without actually being of that gender. I assume that the human patriarchy has more to do with God’s gender than anything else, but I would like to hear from Christians about this. Do you think of your God as male, and if so, why?
