Jo30559ParticipantTo men: Why do some of you make an attempt to cover your balding heads with a ‘comb-over’? This style does not fool anyone, and you all would look much more attractive if you would get a decent haircut. My current gentleman friend reacted like I asked him to cut off his you-know-what when I suggested he would look much better if he changed his style.

Carol S.ParticipantWe all want to look our best, and at our age (over 50) most of us have come to the conclusion that ‘we can’t please everybody, so we please ourselves.’ If you love him, don’t ask him to change. If you don’t love him, why should he change for you? Love him for who he is on the inside. My ‘combed-over’ husband also wears tan shorts, white socks and a gray shirt on a typical trip to the store. I try laying out matching clothes, but when he says ‘these are good enough,’ I just smile and put my selections back in the closet.

Scott B.ParticipantMy hair loss is not yet severe, but I do find it disturbing. I think it engenders the opinion that anything on top of the head looks better than bare scalp.

AnnParticipantHeh, currently the comb-over is apparently a hot look if you’re Donald Trump. No one likes to be told what to do, especially if it concerns personal style. It might seem like you’re criticizing him as a person when you comment on him. What if he told you that you’d look better if you lost a few pounds? Body image is a very sensitive subject, and unless he brings it up, don’t mention it again. Why are you so worried about it? Is it going to make you look bad? I do agree that it generally looks silly, but hey, if you have millions, you don’t really have to worry about things like that. It’s like why some women wear push-up bras that squish them into having cleavage with the aid of lots of wire and padding.
