jim30725Participantthe expectation of blacks to punish non blacks for the behavior of their ancestors is part of the ‘blame someone else, anyone else’ defense. every other ethnic group has arrived in this country in tough circumstances and has done very well. If certain blacks want to blame our ancestors for their fate(forgetting it was theri ancestors who actually did the collecting and selling of slaves),then they should also thank those same people for creating circumstances that put them in this country now. the alternative would be that they are still in africa,in living conditions they would not be happy with.

Joe-HoltParticipantThe stupidity continues. Why is it that a white male under 40 has absolutely no standing to bring an equal opportunity case…has the word equal been re-defined? Answer: YES. Why is it that a white male under 40 is the group that is most likely to be over educated and under utilized? Answer: It is only fair to promote women and minorities to challenging positions. Does the policy of alienating white males under 40 make sense when the goal is tolerance and effective diversity. Answer: HELL NO. Try being me…a white male under 40, 3 advanced degrees and watching young women and minorities pass me by day after day and yet I have no basis to raise a complaint. THE STUPIDITY CONTINUES!!!!

Vanessa24511ParticipantI don’t know how to fully answer your question, but as a black 18 yr old female I’d say we don’t worry about that kind of stuff because we have too many other things to worry about such as skin tone, black and white hate crimes etc… plus when you get down to it…who wants to give up soul food:)

A.N.ParticipantGelong: You have a major chip on your shoulder. You’re overlooking the barriers that many others face with your ‘woe is me’ attitude. Your generalization of all white people benefiting from their ancestors’ stupidity borders on racism, and certainly does not apply to all white people. I do feel ashamed and embarassed at the actions of my ancestors, but that is out of my control, and the only thing I can do is try to be as open-minded and understanding as possible. I am a sexual minority; however, that does not prevent me from emphathizing with other minorities and their struggles to find success and happiness. By the way, some obesity is genetic just like your skin color and my sexual orientation.

niksagParticipantI think it is silly to say that we as white people have to pay for the past mistakes of others. What does one simple minded back country fools comment such as calling a black female a ‘nigger’ have to do with me? How are you going to judge a society based on one persons comment? There are people who are educated and show respect to all other cultures but you still want them to pay for some uneducated persons beliefs? I wasnt the one who raised them!If your educated and know your history then you will know that the slave trade market opened in Africa. Wow, isnt that a shock! So you want me to pay for something that originated in Africa, where Black tribesmen would take men and women whom of which were black from other rival tribes (who used them as slaves for theirselves) and sell them into slavery to european white men and claim that because they where brought to this country I have to pay for that? I am sorry tell me how logical is that? That doesnt seem like educated reasoning to me. It just makes you as wrong as the person who is so uneducated that he called you a ‘nigger’. I have many black friends and have discussed this with them. They feel that most black people today are just looking for a free ride and know that if they scream discrimination then everything will be handed to them. They feel that you should earn what you get. I am not racial my girlfriend isnt even white, all I want is a reasonable explanation not something based on remarks made by people whom I dont even know?
