Does anyone realize that there is a difference between sex and gender? Well, there is, and people are getting them very, very confused. First of all, the form that asks for our gender is wrong! Our gender does not equal male or female, but rather man, woman, and transgender! The terms male and female are related to sex. Now, to show the difference between the two! Sex is one’s biological attributes: penis or no penis (not penis or vagina, its a medical world out there). Gender is what society assigns to each sex. For example, male = man, female = woman. Why is that though? Society puts that label on males and females because of qualities each are SUPPOSED to possess, such as males are supposed to be strong, can’t cry, etc., in order to be men. Females have to cook, clean, and have children in order to be women. Get it? Society has put us in to two boxes, one for men, another for women. Now, you may say that you don’t fit in either box, and fact is, no one really does. Gender is really whatever you make it out to be. If you feel like a man while cleaning and cooking, then you’re a man. Break that gender barrier! If you feel like a woman living independently from a man and working all your life, then go ahead, break that gender barrier! It’s a tough concept to understand, the whole gender thing, but it is worth noting and looking in to! There is a lot more in to all of this, such as transgender and all that falls under that term, but I’ll get to that later! Any thoughts?

I looked up both words on dictionary.com. and Sex: means basically the determining of male or femal based on sex organs, penis and vagina. Gender means basically the same the difference between male and female, although there is a small usage note at the bottom that talks about gender referring to social and/or cultural categories, it mentions the fact that this is by no means widely used by anyone any where and that’s true. I agree with their definition there are two sexes, male and female defined by sex organs, penis and vagina, not penis or no penis. and there are two genders, male and female the only exception is the rare case of a “hermaphrodite”(sp?) in which case the person is neither.
