Jasmine-HParticipantI read in a local newspaper about some Kosovo refugees who were complaining about the conditions they have been ‘forced’ to live under since fleeing to the U.S. They were given free housing for 2 years, food, clothes, and access to jobs. Instead of expressing any gratitude, all they did was complain. One family, for instance, claimed that they did not have enough money for cigarettes. Another adult male complained that he was bored because all he did was watch tv all day. (He refused the janitorial job that was offered him because he thought it was beneath him — he wanted to work as a mechanic instead). I interact with a lot of foreigners in my community (Indian, African, Korean, etc) and while most are hardworking and grateful, a lot of them seem to feel as if they are ‘entitled’ to free handouts from the government and they do nothing but complain, complain, complain.
