Rod-OParticipantI have always wondered why straight men sometimes seem to stare at my chest (I’m in good shape), in the same manner they might check out a woman’s breasts. I am not bothered by it but am curious.

IngvissonMemberI’m a metropolitan transit bus driver and travel all over the city. I’m not real built, but I’ve noticed that when I let my beard grow real long, like about six inches, I start getting waves and thumbs-up from truckers and construction workers. Guys on the street will even say, ‘Cool beard, man.’ They don’t notice me when my beard is cut short. Long beards aren’t common here, so I figure blue-collar guys must appreciate my willingness to stand out from the crowd, and maybe they see my beard as an expression of rebellious machismo and approve of it.
