I heard somewhere that many Filipinos make it a practice to pierce their ‘privates.’ Can anyone tell me if this is true, and if this practice is still going on today?

Plus many of the Army buddies I had were stationed in the Philippines, and I have never heard of anything like this. Most Filipinos I met were pretty conservative, to the point where old ladies we did not know would angrily demand to know if my wife and I were married if they saw us holding hands. Even a second set of piercings in the ears is strongly frowned upon. I’m wondering if you aren’t confusing the Philippines with India, where certainly nose and belly piercings, from what I’ve heard, are common. (But still not nearly as common as in the United States.) Then again, this could be one of the more ridiculous rumors spread about Asian women, like the bizarre claim that they have sideways vaginas.

It is not all that uncommon and I am sure there is probably one person you come in contact with that either has it done or knows someone who has it done.

However, I was watching a Discovery channel program on sexual practices with the noted anthropologist Desmond Morris, and he visited the Philippines and visited a few ‘sex shops’ where MEN – they never showed any women getting these things done – would get subcutaenous inserts in their penis to better please their partner. Let me tell you, it doesn’t look like these establishments are widespread, and it certainly wasn’t regulated by the state like piercings here in the U.S. are. But sorry, I’ve never seen anything about piercings being widespread.
