Barry AlsteinParticipantWhatever they would deem hell to be. You are asking it from the point of view that what they are going through now is hell, which is your own preconception. Masochists must have a form of hell; if your hell is what they go through, what is your heaven? Your heaven might be their hell.

Joshua OreskovichParticipantIt’d be more than just a hard spanking… How about this: Your flesh seering of you, and right beside you the devil burning with you, along with everyone else who hatefully rejected God? Believe me, there is no middle ground; you can’t say you love God and not follow Him. Masochism can be a healthy thing; it is not the devil’s work, it is a personal choice given by God to feel things differently.

Torii24194ParticipantIf you think all your past lovers running a train of pain on you is awful, Satan could deliver the unbearable. Regardless of humanity’s capabilities to withstand sufferage, pain, agony and the ‘Full Monty,’ man (in my opinion and based on personal experience) can only endure so much. That is, unless God Himself compels man with the strength to handle sadistic, pain-inflicting stuff (which usually, miraculously occurs through prayer). On the other hand, you may individually be able to tolerate infinite torture, whereas I cannot even grasp the concept of masochism and sadism, both words I had to look up in the dictionary!

Craig P.MemberFrom a Christian perspective, hell is essentially the same for everyone: suffering and separation from God. Another response in this category asserted that masochists are generally agnostic. If so, they have chosen to separate from God. The suffering that masochists are drawn to is short-term and within specific limits, not the complete and final sort that goes with a description of hell. If a masochist wanted such an experience, he or she would probably immolate (burn to death) themselves. Those who have immolated themselves have generally done so from depression or protest, not masochism.

Dan27142ParticipantHell is eternal separation from God. God acts as the glue that holds the cosmos together; a place where God does not exist is unimagineable. The fire and brimstone aspect may be metaphoric, but being cut off from the reach of God is not.
