I used to fall for guys in uniform, then I joined the armed forces… now Ive got to know the guys in the uniforms, I realise they’re just regular guys. Plus the novelty of the unifrom wears off after a while. I still like to see the boys in their best dress uniforms though, and find myself attracted to guys I work alongside day in and day out, even though I know they’re idiots! Having said that, in the 5 years Ive been in, Ive dated military guys only, except for one… and eventually, his stubbly chin put me off! But I think the whole thing harks back to the days of a woman needing a hero, and although Im military, I still need a hero…!

A lot of styles these days are sloppy and baggy – which yes, can look nice, too- but a man’s uniform -whether it be fatigues or the dress clothes just seem to fit so well, and show off his usually very fit, trim, young body. Even if my head says – ‘ugh- military guys’ some instinctive part of me really likes a man that looks young, healthy, and strong.

Of all the people in the military, only a very small percentage are actually in combat roles. And they aren’t ‘killing people for a living’. Its been my experience, as a veteran, that most would rather do something other than fire their weapons. There is an old adage in the military that I give great credence. ‘No one hates war more than those who must wage it.’
