During the Clarence Thomas hearings, someone wondered out loud how black people could tell the difference between head hair and pubic hair, and was denounced as an outrageous racist. I’ve always wondered what the answer was, since black head hair looks a lot like my pubic hair. I just want an answer to a question that has always intrigued me, but I could never ask someone without risking offending them.

This link to the FBI’s Hairs, Fibers, Crime, and Evidence may lend some clarification as to the differences between body hair and race. http://www.fbi.gov/hq/lab/fsc/backissu/july2000/deedric1.htm#Body%20Area%20Determination

Not offended at all. You are correct pubic hair can be mistaken for afro-american hair. I hate to admit it but it’s true.
