I am trying to figure out why some people have the sex fetish of eating excrement and drinking urine. I’m no medical expert, but isn’t fecal matter and urine harmful to a person if they injest it? Am I missing something? My wife and I are pretty open-minded when it comes to sex and trying new things, but the above-mentioned just seems downright disgusting.

You may be surprised to know that urine is no harmful at all. In fact- it’s quite the opposite. Though I am no medical proffesional myself, through my survival tactics classes, I have learned that urine is one of the most steril liquids. If you are lost in the woods and suffer from a deep wound you are supposed to urinate on the wound to clean it and prevent infections, rather then wash it with any water found in the forest. As for excrement I have no idea, but if it comes out of a human body, it should (in theory) not be dangerous to a person. Still… those fetishes seem outright disgusting to me too… Why would anyone want to…?

I always thought that excrement was stuff that your body didn’t want. I don’t know how this can be healthy. I once heard on TV that the stuff is cleaner than normal food because it’s your body’s natural product.

Drinking urine is not harmful. It is sterile. It has no proven theraputic value though it is believed in some cultures that the drinking of a pregnant woman’s urine can increase fertility. Urine can and has been rlied upon by strnaded individuals when ther is no available water source. (although it is self depleting and will icrease in concentation). Feces on the other hand is dangerous to handle, eat etc. It contains bacteria which can result in sickness and death.

I have heard that Urine is very free of germs. As your body produces chemicals to kill any germs it may contain. But you would still feel sick if you drank some. Apparanlty doctors in victorian times did use to drink a bit of a patiance urine to see if they had Diabetes. If the urine was too sugary, then they did have Diabetes. But Feaces is full of germs, thats why flies spread so many diseases

Urine is generally safe to consume provided the ‘source’ is uncontaminated. Facal matter is not safe to comsume. Why anyone would want to do either is beyond me. However just because it is harmful does not mean that some people do not find it sexually exicting. There are a number of sexual practices that fall into the categories of being potentially dangerous, harmful or even fatal. Including making love in a hammock.

I think it’s part of the BDSM culture. Some people enjoy degradation and power. I don’t really understand the motivation myself.

Well, urine is almost completely sterile, or so I’ve heard. Unless you have a urinary tract infection or a kidney infection, it’s supposedly very clean. Drinking one’s own urine is supposedly completely safe — any bugs in there are already in your body! Somebody else’s is probabyl not as safe. Urine is mostly urea and ammonia, both of which are not easy environments for virii or bacteria to thrive in. Now, feces, I’m not too sure of. I know there are some bacteria which live in the gut. They’re harmless for the most part, but maybe someone else’s is not harmless to you. Plus real nasty bugs can be in there occasionally. I’m no medical expert either but I’ve read up on this as I’ve also been curious about it.

First off, urine is very sterile. Ingesting is not harmful to any major extent as long as it’s in moderation. Feces, on the other hand, it NOT sterile and can therefore cause a cocktail of infections and parasites. I would absolutely not recommend anyone doing this, even if it’s their own.

Eating excrement is definetely a bad idea because there is E. Coli living in it and it can cause a bad infection if it gets into the upper half of the human digestive system. E. Coli lives primarily in the large intestine, the last three feet of the 30-foot human digestive tract. I’m not sure about drinking urine, but I think that would be safe. Urine is pretty acidic, so I don’t think much could live in it. You would want to drink plenty of water though, to make sure you don’t burn your throat from the acidic nature. Remember, urine is simply the wastes that your blood needs to get rid of, so while it will make your blood a little dirty for a few hours, it won’t be long before your kidneys clear it out again.

Urine really isn’t harmful, and there’s even some evidence to backup that it’s beneficial, like a few people think…in a homeopathic sense I think. Urine, upon exiting the body, is totally sterile. It even has amounts of allantoin, which is good for the skin (you’ll find allantoin in many skin care products). Poo, on the other hand, i’m not so sure about and don’t really want to find out! I’d imagine there’s no benefit, and more than likely a few downsides to poo.

You answered your own question: because it’s disgusting. It’s extreme sex, and some people like that, whether it’s bloodletting, S & M, or other fetishes. But don’t overanalyze a fetish. Shit play could be explained by events that happened in early development, an interest in dirt or filth, the desire to be degraded, or other things. But unless you want to play ‘junior psychologist’, you will never know why people play those games. They just like to. Is it safe. No, it’s extreme sex. It can be done very safely (only external contact, clean-up right afterwards, use a protective barrier). But it’s not as dangerous as people say. Maybe occasionally parasites, and upset stomach, and by all means, every extreme sex player should get a hepatitis A and B vaccine. But die? No.

… excrement is yucky. Some people enjoy urine play but don’t like the brown stuff. Urine is sterile in a healthy individual.
