Kristen26236ParticipantI’m a Southerner and would like to know why it seems a higher percentage of people from New Jersey are rude. I work in an environment where my coworkers and I deal with a lot of people. Most of us agree that those from New Jersey are the rudest people we come across. Why is this?

Andy B.ParticipantAs a native of New Jersey, let me first ask if you are confusing ‘rudeness’ with ‘abruptness.’ I will admit that with our more hectic pace of life, we can be abrupt. But perception is everything. I tend to see Southerners as ‘rude’ because they do not allow for differences in people (religious, sexual orientation, etc.). If you were to live in New Jersey or anywhere in the metro area, I think you would find some of us very pleasant, and some very rude – just like anywhere else in the country.
