Why is there a double standard regarding clinical depression? Most folks are willing to admit that it is a real disease, like diabetes, but at the same time, many of them speak and act as though depressed people are just lazy and looking for a free ride from disability. Also, many people with depression have a lower tolerance for stress, which creates other limitations in life choices. I know everyone has felt sad or blue or genuine greif from a loss, but it’s not the same as chronic depression, which is a serious problem, even when treated with drugs. We don’t want pity, just understanding. Just Curious
