When you hear the term sexual assault (referring to ‘rape’ or any other unwanted sexual force), what do you think? Do you think, even a tiny bit, that such a term is frequently made-up, exaggerated, or abused? I ask this because sexual assault did happen to me this year and I know that it is real. Not everybody knows about what happened to me, but among those who know, most seem to believe it is a crime and a serious matter. There are others though who seem to believe that sexual assault is just a ‘women’s issue’ or a ‘myth’ like PMS. Some even seem to believe that sexual assault is partly or entirely the fault of the victim (or ‘survivor’ as some say). What are your thoughts?
