I’m making an honest attempt to understand the need in our society for secularizing and separating ourselves. I work in a great environment; the only white guy amongst blacks and hispanics, but the only responses I get to why we need specific ethnic organizations is ‘because we’ve been excluded for so long, we have to start our own’ or ‘they’re not exclusive, anyone can join’. Organizations like the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The National Association of Black Journalists by their very face don’t sound very inclusive. The Question? What makes one ethnic groups exclusionary practices abhorant and anothers acceptable. Please help. I don’t want to put this one in the category of ‘What comes after the universe’. I truly want to understand.
