Why do African-Americans have no respect for other African-Americans who have reached higher levels of education or occupation? I’m thinking of the total disrespect shown individuals like Colin Powell and Condileeza Rice. They have each come from very poor backgrounds and through different means reached the highest levels of education and employment, yet are continually insulted by members of their own race? Is it simply because they do not adhere to the ‘victim stereotype’?
