Ray C.MemberI truly feel the same way; I’ve noticed that even on TV white men are regarded as unintelligent, unattractive low wage puppets. I feel although that we’ve done it to ourselves by ignoring our decline in society. Men are seen as uncaring, self absorbed, egotistical and without religion. I don’t think we want to see this as a problem because it would show a sign of weakness or leave us open for ridicule not by blacks or Hispanics or any other ethnic group, but our own. WHITE MALES, I think this trend will go on until we have no choice but to change the way we think. Are we weak for acknowledging we too need help or support from one another?

BrianMember‘White Americans can live where they like without any problem.’ Nope, we can’t. A black person may shoot us in certain ‘hoods. Whites don’t do that quite so much. Sorry, but it seems to be true. ‘They can drive around without being looked at by police, while black people can’t.’ Nope. I’ve gotten pulled over several times for being a long haired guy in a beat up car. All for nothing. I shrug my shoulders. Life goes on. ‘They can meet in large groups and no one will say anything, while blacks can’t. ‘ Nope. Get a group of white punks outside a show in Boston and the cops break it up pretty fast. Meeting is one thing, loitering is a crime. Why do black people plug up the side walk and corners? You never see groups of white, brown, or yellow people congregate like that. Are they just looking for a hassle?

T.J.ParticipantI TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. I FEEL THAT BLACK PEOPLE LIKE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE POOR ME ISSUE. IF THEY DON’T GET WHAT THEY WANT THEY START SCREAMING I AM BLACK AND THIS IS WHY YOU ARE DOING THIS TO ME. IT IS OKAY TO HAVE AN ALL BLACK COLLEGE, BUT GOD FORBID YOU HAVE AN ALL WHITE COLLEGE!! THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT MISS USA, SO NOW WHEN THE TOP TEN ARE ANNOUNCED, YOU KNOW THERE WILL BE AT LEAST ONE BLACK GIRL BECAUSE IF NOT THERE WILL BE A LAW SUIT FILED THE NEXT DAY. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MISS BLACK AMERICA?? AGAIN DOUBLE STANDARD. IN THEIR FAVOR OF COURSE. AS FOR THE SLAVERY ISSUE I AND A LOT OF OTHERS ARE TOTALLY SICK OF THIS ISSUE. YEAH IT HAPPENED BUT THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THE WHITE MAN DID THIS AND THE WHITE MAN DID THAT. I WAS NOT ALIVE THEN NOR DID I OWN ANYONE. AS FAR AS IF MY FAMILY OWNED ANYONE I DON’T KNOW AND I REALLY DON’T CARE. AND I AM TIRED OF BEING BLAMED FOR SOMETHING I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH. I DON’T FEEL THAT ANYONE IN THIS DAY AND AGE CAN BLAME ANYONE FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY THEMSELVES WERE NOT APART OF. GRANTED THEY HAD DISTANT FAMILY MEMBERS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN SLAVES. BUT TAKE IT UP WITH THE ONES THAT OWNED THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS AND QUIT TAKING IT OUT ON ME. BESIDES, I WAS ALWAYS TOLD THAT SOME BLACKS WHERE BROUGHT IN AS SLAVES, BUT MOST IT WAS A TRADE OFF. THEY WERE BROUGHT OVER HERE AND THEN WORKED OFF THERE DEBT, TO WHO EVER THEY MADE THE DEAL WITH.

jonnie29090ParticipantWould you like to talk about black racism? I am a white female who was one of a handful of whites who worked in a large work force, mostly black. My supervisor was a black female…. The black female considered herself a so-called ‘team leader’ and, on dress down day (Friday) insisted that EVERYONE on the team give up their non-paid meal break to attend a certain eatery for a so-called ‘team’ meal. I drily note that I was the ONLY white on the ‘team.’ All of this was ‘ok’– human relations, etc– until the black supervisor began to ask me very personal, very illegal questions about my personal life–that I would NEVER share with strangers! After I discovered that this individual was trying to coerce me into dating a certain black male, I went over the head of the individual– and also made it known to her that if she continued to touch me against my wishes and ask me personal questions which constitute sexual/racial harrassment–SHE WOULD BE HEARING FROM MY ATTORNEY…..! I don’t think I should have to say that I have a right to choose my own friends, etc and that I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RACIAL HARRASSMENT FROM BLACK RACISTS!

miaParticipantLet me bring to the table the fact that i am white. Yes african american people are infact racist towards white people and i see it all the time i attend highschool and i constantly hear oh white people this white people that cracker this cracker that i hear more racist comments towards white people than towards black people dont get me wrong i do hear racist comments towards black people also. nowto address the issue of african american months of rememberance and scholarships they get those things because most tv shows sitcoms and whatever else are directed more towards the white crowd and whether by law were not allowed to discriminate when it comes to jobs and scholarships it still happens and theres no getting around it atthis point in time and there needs to be something to ensure that african american people have a chance to get their education regardless of their color. African americans also have a memorial month to show how far they have come as a race that was brought over here as and treated worse than animals and they are remembering the people that have brought their culture so far.

DeniseParticipantas a person of color, i am deeply appaled by this question. As a chicana, i can just say that TV shows, holidays, and everything else cannot compare to the 500+ years of colonization and exploitation that we have endured. it can never make up for the genocide, rape, toruture, and enslavement of my people, and it can never bring back the culture, language, and history that we have lost. i dont think whites can say the same/

charlzParticipantAs a Black child living in a wealthy white neihborhood,Police would come into my back yard telling me I was tresspassing and had to leave or be arrested. I was harrased regularly by police when taking out the garbage or playing in my own back yard. Being 1 of 5 blacks in a all white catholic school of 4000 students I was called nigger and beaten by the racist white kids on a regular basis. I am now a self employed Broadcast TV Director, Producer Digital Imaging specialist. Every agency or studio I worked for in the past employed an average of 10 blacks to 500 whiles and the whites complain that we 10 blacks took thier jobs. —– I know I’m not wanted. ——Thats why I had to start my own Business

JacquelineMemberI have read the responses and the question…I am going to give a different spin on it all do to the fact that yes I am caucasian, and Yes, I have experienced discrimination because I am white. However, as I respect the views of many understand this. Many of the ‘whites’ that have ‘privelege’ are those that come from ‘money’. It is the caucasians that are of the lower middle classes and the middle, middle classes that get the same type of discrimantion as anyone else of ethnic proportion. These days it is hard to get a job at a McDonalds unless you are bi-lingual. overall we all experience a discrimination from one end of the spectrum to the other. What we should think about is how to change it all together by banning together to get those politicians that are ‘white and have money and power’ to look at the whole picture…but, dont dismiss that there are more and more multinational companies that have executive level positions for Hispanic and African/AMerican or better yet it just goes straight to the non-speaking foreign nationals that come into the country for opportunity that takes away from everyone in the middle class(blue collar) realm and thensome. NO sense in the argueing over whom gets discriminated more….it is slowly getting to the point of even.

windy24317ParticipantAmen to Monica and Janis!!!!!!! I just went through an ordeal at my son’s high school that showed me just how bad the blacks have gotten. What is really sad is that the ‘AUTHORITY’ figures are scared to say or do anything ‘to stir up trouble’. So they pet them and let them act, talk and be disrespectful any way they choose. My son and a black boy got into a confrontation. My son walked away twice. The black boy came up behind him and pushed him so my son DEFENDED himself. My son was the one sitting in the office while the principal, secretary and deputy were busy following the other boy down the hall or wherever he went BECAUSE he could do and act as he wanted. They should have been stern and told him to sit down and shut-up!!! they are so disrespectful and mouthy, etc.,etc.,etc. I feel the white kids coming up today are tired of being pushed around by them. The problem is that the white people have tucked their tails under them for so long now it’s too late. The blacks outnumber us and KNOW ( or think) we’re gonna take whatever they dish out. Slavery????so long ago!!!! Their black ancestors are the one who started their slavery!!!!

AmberParticipantThat is right, for every black who does not get a job because of their color there is a white one who experiences the same thing. So ‘NO’ the rights issues will never go away and until you walk a mile in their shoes there is no basis for your remark. Civil Rights have gotten them this far yet, most of them still suffer, forced to live in substandard communities, go to substandard schools and work in substandard jobs.

RobParticipantOk I am only 15 and I have stumbled across this site and here’s what I have to say. I think that obviously bad things happend to black people in the past by a society that was intolerant to differences but the society has realized the faults and that and has changed and racism still exists but only through select groups of white people, black people and Asian people. But when walking in the mall or other places black people have often made racist comments to me and I have never made racist comments to them or any other black person. When I turn on my TV in Canada i always see stories about racist white people denying black people jobs and other such things but I have yet to meet one person who has expressed such racist views. My father had a serious racial remark thrown upon him so he called the human rights commission in Canada and they said straight, white, males were not covered. I always hear about poor black people and they exist but just down the road from me there are tones of impoverished white people who will fall into the same trap and will never make any money and people are sure discriminatory of them — dirty, greasy lowlifes is what there called. And then I always get the fact of my ancestors … my ancestors were not slave owners they were not rich they were not even in this country they were poor Irishmen. Why should I pay for decisions that were made that I had nothing to do with that I had no say in? I feel like I am guilty of being white and I’ve already paid 15 years for being born white. When will it end?
