Annie23900ParticipantWhy are so many men completely ignorant when it comes to female anatomy? I’ve come across men who swear women pee out of their vaginas or butts. Some men have no idea about PMS and they constantly repeat the false stereotype that all women are raging and angry during PMS. Some have no idea that women dilate to accommodate men during sex or to give birth; they think they can just push something in or that she can just push something out on a whim. Did these men forget what they learned in sex ed?

Taz27453ParticipantA lot of guys either didn’t take sex-ed or didn’t pay attention. After all, it is school, and a lot of guys like to ditch school. But that’s a different topic. When it comes to female anatomy, most guys only know what they hear from their friends or see in porn. Too bad, because when a guy is more educated about the female anatomy, he’s more likely to be better at pleasuring her.

Brian23047ParticipantThose men in question are most likely ignorant of other things they were supposed to learn in school as well. My girlfriend, for instance, shocked me by being shocked to learn that the moon does not produce its own light but rather reflects it from the sun. People’s ignorance does not limit itself to anatomical functions – those may just be the issues that are glaring at the moment. But I wonder how many women understand what Jerry Seinfeld termed ‘shrinkage,’ the physical phenomena in which the penis and scrotum shrivel up when cold.

La Trina B.MemberI have educated a few of my female friends and associates that we have three openings. There seems to be a general misunderstanding of the female anatomy by both genders. Ignorance is not determined by gender. Some females reinforce to men the ‘PMS rage’ because they actually experience it. The problem is that men, like women, generalize.

Betty BlueMemberA lot of sex-ed is/was just basic anatomy, the mechanics of sex, maybe some discussion of birth control and disease. I’d guess that they never learned these things to begin with. I wish more men’s magazines would cover simple issues like this, including how to pleasure and not hurt your partner. Women’s magazines sure do.

CJ31954ParticipantGuys learn very little in school and their friends. They learn it from dating a really ‘open’ girl that doesnt mind talking about her junk. I havent met another guy yet that knew that women discharge throughout the day.

Beth FraserMemberHi Annie, Well, I remember being confused when I was a little girl, thinking that pee came out of the vagina. But I did learn otherwise before I grew up. Even funnier belief–on an internationally oriented message board I participate in, several men were convinced women’s breasts squirt milk when we orgasm!! Another asked whether women’s breasts have milk once a month. Numerous people told them that women only have milk after childbirth while the baby is still nursing, but one man simply wasn’t pursuaded. Sex ed classes aren’t offered everywhere, but porn can be found worldwide, I guess… Beth

BastianParticipantIn the school I went to, boys and girls were separated for the sex-ed portion of health class. Girls only learned about their bodies, boys only learned about their bodies, and there was only the barest mention about putting the two together and what happens if you do. The result was boys not knowing the things you mentioned, but I also remember one of my female friends seeing a picture of a guy with an erect penis for the first time and thinking the ‘poor guy’ had some sort of deformity. (I’m not kidding.) Granted, the women generally knew more than the men since there are a lot of dicks in pop culture, while vagina is still a word that is only uttered under one’s breath in polite circles.

dersk25706ParticipantThat the original question had a misstatement. Sure, you dilate to give birth, but you *stretch* to accommodate a penis. Unless the guy appears on a lot of racy DVD’s, it’s highly unlikely that he penetrates past the cervix.

Peter-johnsonParticipantFinally! I have wondered about this for ages: Do women pee out of their vaginas or butts? Women who squirt – do the squirt out of the same hole as they pee from? Please tell me my email is norweger5@yahoo.com

MichelleParticipantNo they did not forget. It’s completely understandable. They are men. They shouldn’t know everything that goes on with a woman. They would have no way of knowing every single thing. Don’t give them a hard time about it. Unless they ask a woman specifically. do all women know every detail about what goes on with a man? They might learn it eventually, but they don’t HAVE to know. If they ask something, just explain to them politely. don’t laugh, because it makes them feel less respected and men don’t like that.
