LaurieParticipantA male dentist leaned on my breasts while he was working on me. Was this necessary for him to get a good angle on my teeth, or was he just getting a quick feel? What should I do?

Johanna28804ParticipantBy the way that you phrased your question, I feel certain that you already know the answer. You should have asked the dentist if it was necessary, at that time. That would have made him aware that you were uncomfortable and that you knew what he was doing. If you go back again, and it happens again, ask the him!

Ann L. LowensteinParticipantHaving spent a great deal of time in a dentist’s chair as a teen, (I had braces), I can honestly say I can’t think of any procedure a dentist does that would require him to lean on a woman’s breasts, but there is some minute possibility it was innocent. If you know some of this guy’s other female patients, see if you can find out whether he’s done similar things to them. If not, think back: Was there a dental assistant present? Did he say anything odd or inappropriate? Did he seem to be enjoying cleaning your teeth (or whatever he was doing) a little TOO much? Irrespective of what you discover, I’d definitely see about finding another dentist, and let this guy know, in a non-hostile, non-confrontational way, that the reason you are seeking another dentist is that his behavior in the exam room made you extremely uncomfortable. If you CAN contact some of his other female patients, and you’ve all been groped, it’s time to file a group complaint with the State Medical Board. Be prepared to get treated like hysterical morons, however, because if there’s one thing all doctors are good at, it’s closing ranks when one of their own breaks the law…

ShirleyAveryParticipantI hope you’ve changed dentists by now. As a teen, I had a dentist like that and it made me very uncomfortable, but I was too embarassed to tell my parents about it so it went on too long. Just Curious
