ChuckMemberWhy was it necessary for those responsible for Colonialism to spread hatred for Africans and those who have a similar skin pigmentation, world wide? Hatred for dark skin is not limited to countries where Africans were enslaved, (i.e., Jamaica, the U.S., etc). For example, many blacks that I know have experienced racism in countries such as Japan, China, and Israel, where African slaves were never held. In addition, in countries such as India, Brazil, and Australia, there is color-based prejudice where light skin is considered better than dark skin. I understand that Hatred for black skin was considered necessary in the countries that held slaves in order to keep the institution of slavery going. When a group of people is hated, or despised, it is easier for the group doing the hating to brutalize the group that is hated. But why the other countries?
